LESLIE BARRETT, FMP, MEd, BSN
My Story

Leslie Barrett was the Officer and Chairman of the Board of Barrett & Associates, LLC (formally, US China Medical Corporation) since its inception.

Ms. Barrett was formerly at Harvard Medical School in the Surgical Transplantation Research Department as a research scientist. She was known as an authority in the field for developing a microsurgical heart transplant technique in mice which led to new and innovative approaches to allo-antigen binding experiments. As an experienced microsurgeon and transplant immunologist, Ms Barrett has presented papers and lectured extensively throughout the world with special interests in China.
Her background in the medical field and subsequently her interest in integrative medicine enabled her to initiate her career as a holistic medical provider. She established a business office in Beijing and formed a Joint Venture (JV) with Tongji Medical University to collaborate utilizing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Western technologies. Her Board, consisted of experienced Chinese and American medical professionals. They centered the program around TCM and Western Science Based Obesity treatments and education.

Recently, Ms. Barrett completed coursework for Full Body Systems in Functional Medicine. She has met all professional and educational requirements, is certified and recognized as an expert in the health field as a Holistic Health Practitioner specializing in women’s health.

Her goal is to identify and treat the underlying cause of the client's condition. It centers on the idea that one condition may have many causes or one cause can have many manifestations. After much study, she believes that holistic medicine can be addressed by a combination of science based therapies and lifestyle changes to treat and heal the whole person in collaboration with that person.
The Board had the unique opportunity to hold its first meeting at the Sara Stedman Nutritional Center at Duke University and they strategized to work together to alleviate symptoms of chronic illnesses with a focus on obesity. That included associated diabetes, hypertension and CVD problems. The JV along with the Stedman Nutrition Center planed to consult with clients to explore wellness goals through behavioral change and by leveraging Eastern along with Western resources including, weight management, exercise and supplemental/herbal strategies. The goal was to bring each person into a balanced state of wellbeing.
